Strange... I’ve put my Onager through a great deal of use and abuse and haven’t had an issue. 🤷‍♂️

Zander recently broke his after a year’s worth of use but he was high sticking a fish in his excitement.

First day out with the Onager yesterday.

First impressions, light and well balanced. For some reason it reminds me of the Steez XBD frog rod, in a larger more powerful version.

Could not experience much of it, since after maybe 30mins of fishing, the rod snapped (after the 3rd guide).

Looks like this is a common issue with the Onager. Wondering what to do when I get the replacement from Megabass...
Ugh. Sorry to hear man. Yeah that’s a tough one. Check out the customer reviews on that rod line on TW.

Went with the KLX that Cal was suggesting (250 USD with expedited shipping) so that I have a rod until the Megbass comes back.

It just sucks that I have to:

1) Spend time and money to get the rod shipped back to them
2) Waste time for the rod to be replaced.

You would hope that a company that sells a higher priced rod like this, would offer a better warranty.

Ordered one from the Hookup Tackle. It will replace the Onager, that I will sell when it returns.

The KLX will become my saltwater big stick!

I don’t have an onager but I do have a few USA destroyers, one of which I broke and the build between the 2 rod series is night and day. Not saying there is anything wrong with the USA destroyer but for big baits I like the build of the t.s. I got mine from the hookup as well and I have thrown 5 oz’s with it no problem. I think you made the right choice.

Yeah, I hope so too! Got her for 500USD (which is already more than what I wanted to pay), but I hope it will be the THE rod that I am looking for. :)

I really like the Low Down Custom rods for swimbaits. You would want either the H or MH for those sizes. I have a MH and XH and they fill everything from 1.5-8 oz baits.

Now when you're familiar with secret art of rodbuilding, you should try American Tackle Bushido 3K's. \:D/
