Cranking rod

Post by fishonsc » Tue Feb 16, 2021 10:04 am

I am going to pick up a new cranking rod for throwing 1/2 to 3/4 oz mid depth cranks. I have narrowed it down to the Megabass Levante f5-75lv emtf or the Daiwa rebellion 610MHRB. Looking for some feedback from people who have fished both or either one.
Thanks
Jarett

I'd say your best bet between those would be the EMTF. Longer rod than 610 with responsive tip to work cranks through cover and impart action. Long is better for medium to deep cranks.

The rebellion is a good choice for accuracy casting to targets in shallower water with squarebills, chatterbait, spinnerbaits. Shorter rod for better accuracy.

My fav rod for small to medium cranks for smallies is a 7'6" MH Moderate G. Loomis Crankbait rod. It has been discontinued but i think there are a few good IMX - pro series with the same actions.
