Interesting arsenal, very streamlined, me likey, appeals to my minimalist tendencies. I know it's an old thread, but I've been thinking (ocd'ing) about re-tooling entirely to a single brand myself and was curious about your usage on the casting rods.

Both are excellent rods, especially for factory built and Yamaga Blanks is essentially all parts/components/blank, made/crafted/produced in Japan. This is an exceptional rod for smaller 1/4-3/8 oz shallow to med cranks and even 1/4-/3/8 inlines and spoons. I also love tossing 1/8-1/4 oz Beetle Spins with 2-3" single tail grubs with it, all with 10lb-15 braid/leader. I love how this rod loads and keeps fish pinned and the surprising amount of backbone and fish fighting ability this blank actually has.

The Golden Wing is an incredible fast action mag-light/mag-finesse rod that excels for lighter plastics and even 1/4-1/3oz Topwaters an spin jig type lures. I use mine with braid and paired to a pretty well modded and turned OG 2009 Aldebaran MG7 with 8-10 braid/leader. If you like 6-8 fluoro and fish a lot of neds and finesse 1/8-1/4 oz jigs, this rod would rock for that as well. This is a super fun rod and is exceptional at imparting action to the lure.

What are you wanting to use either rod for?

FWIW, I did forget a custom NFC LMX heavy power that's been cut down to ~ 6'9".

Yamaga Blue Current III - I was looking at the 53B or 69B for river trout fishing. I've seen their video on the 53B.

I always wanted to get one of the Tiemco/Fenwick rods. The Golden Wing just looks classy. I river fish a lot, and primarily fish with neds, tubes, and finesse jigs. How big are the guides? Would they allow a braid to leader knot to go through?

Old thread, but I like it.

Spinning- I don't use them

Casting- These are just what I use on regular basis. You can tell I like shorter rods. Anything over around 7'3" and longer just doesn't feel right. Most of my fishing is fairly close quarters with jigs, cover glides, stick baits in local small ponds, and occasionally a simple trig.

-2x Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse SUF 700c
-2x St Croix Mojo Bass Jerkbait rod 6'8" Fast. Only St. Croix Rod I've ever liked.
-Dobyns Sierra 683C
-Dobyns Sierra 684C
-Dobyns Champ 610-4C
-Dobyns Kaden 715C
-Leviathan Omega MH swimbait 1-4oz
-Rainshadow blank custom swimbait build. 2-6oz Fast 7'10" If I remember correctly.

The Yamaha Blanks 69B would be about perfect for trout river fishing, it would be a blast with a proper BFS and it will have micro guides.

The Fenwick Golden Wing, Aces, and Techna will all have true micros, and while a connection knot will pass you will want a thin braid and leader with a slim knot like an FG or Shin Fukae/lazy Alberto, or use a very short leader that doesn't get reeled past the tip guide when casting. The LP+J should kick arse for the techs you mention so long as you stay within the weight range of the rod.

NRX+ 821s NRR+Vanquish 2500: Neds, 1/16-1/8oz with 3 and 3.3inch swimbaits, 65 pointer

NRX 822s SYR+same vanquish: 4" senko, 1/8-3/8oz with 3 to 4 inch swimbaits, 78 pointer

NRX 842c+Chronarch G HG: 3/16 to 3/8oz with 3 to 4 inch swimbaits, 78 to 115 pointer. May retire this setup in favor of a spinning setup

2x NRX 893c+20 Metanium HG or XG: 5" weightless senko/fluke, 3/16 to 3/8oz trig with various up to 4-6" plastics. Occasional frog

NRX 894c+same Metaniums: Used it for Dark Sleepers and frogs last year. Barely got any use out of it this year. If I fished jigs, this would be my guy.

NRX+ 903c+same Metaniums: My new baby. Dark Sleepers, spinnerbaits, 3/16 to 3/8oz with 3-4 inch swimbaits and occasionally same weights with trigged plastics

801-2 TSR with C2000 Stradic: Various UL stuff, mostly 1/32 and 1/16 jigheads with 1.5 to 3" plastics with occasional hard baits. Nice action but terrible sensitivity. Still trying to find the right rod to replace it.

I think I'm retiring and moving somewhere mostly for fishing in the next year or two. I'd like to revamp my setups a bit before and after the move to have my arsenal be a bit more focused. The 821s NRR, 893c and 903c are all definite keepers but the others I'd like to change things around a bit to really get rods for what I want, including a couple premium travel rods. I feel like I could give up the 822s SYR and 842c in favor of a single spinning rod, I'd like to replace the 893c with something similar but different to fill a different niche, and I really want an UL rod with soft action but great sensitivity. My 894c does jigs, light punching and frogs better than my other rods, but those are things I don't do very often. I have a pile of reels to send in for service and sell after, at which point I'll get a dedicated reel for every rod.

Me too. At 74 I am getting awful tired of 106 mile round trips for work, and baby sitting people that have been working the same job for 20 years or more. Cutting my arsenal down to about 30 combos is not something I look forward to. Like what I have for the most part. Maybe a dozen rods that I'd let go without too much remorse. It's almost impossible for me to let a reel go.

But....like you I would love to settle on dedicated rod/reel combos. Picked up a PXL Type R when TW closed them out. Put it on an Aetos 6'6" MLM and have never had the urge to try the reel elsewhere. Purchased a used HMG 7' MLF/TD-Z 105H combo that was one of the combos I learned to cast #5 Shad Raps on and it will stay that way. Spooled 60# braid on my Curado 201E7 and used in on a 7'4" HF OG Tatula as a dedicated frog rod. Rest are up in the air.

2021 was not a good year for me. Didn't use a third of the list in my previous post.
