GLX803s or IMX-Pro803s

Post by Birdman2136 » Wed Oct 27, 2021 6:22 pm

Hey all I did a couple searches prior to posting and found some good info on the GLX 803s. I'd like to get away with a shorter rod for what I am looking for, but I am uncertain if the 803s in either will be suffice or I should be considering bumping up to an 843s or 853s.

I'd like for the rod to be able to fish 3/8 oz finesse jigs, 1/4 swim jigs, and 1/4 to 3/8 ball head jigs. The finesse jigs and swim jigs used are on the lighter wire side for hooks and I have managed with another MH style spinning rod for the last few years. I'd like to try a Loomis rod, but of course no one local carries them.

Moderate cover and some dock skipping would be done.

Thanks all!

Is this a new GLX 803 or a prior gen? I have the older OG GLX803 BCR. It is a great plastics rod. However too me the rod starts be a bit taxed with a 3/8 oz jig and trailer. That is the upper range for the rod. It excels with weightless plastics and a 1/4 oz jig and trailer or a 1/8 to 1/4 oz tungsten weight and plastic

I would be looking at buying new most likely.

I don’t have any experience with the new GLX rods outside of the GLX MBR 844

in my prior boat, I had rod storage issues and loved the 803 format. both the old GLX and NRX were great. my 7ft rods did nothing more. 1/2 oz was the max for these rods but the lighter presentations were the bomb on these rods and what I fished on them. Shakey heads, t-rigs and light jigs. simplly great

I use the 802s, 803s, and 804s XMR NRX rods.

I love the length.

they'll be fine for what you are looking for.
