#1 How can you charge this much money while not even made in Japan?

#2 How can you sell such an expensive rod with a 1 year warranty?
All posion utlima are made in Japan. It is a 7xxxx yen rod in real street price.
For now. It will drop over time since Japan practices capitalism. USDM will be stuck at full retail.

If you can read Japanese, the rod tag clearly state it is made in Japan. I have several 21 Posion Glorious and they are made in Japan. I hope US Posion Ultima has at least 3 year warranty to justify the 250 usd difference.

Anybody know the guide material? I know they originally used torzite but changed to sic due to supply constraints in Japan

The casting rods have a torzite guide train with a Shimano tip.

The spinning rods are supposed to have some proprietary Shimano Titanium guides with some super hard insert...

Basically they aren't the same

Is that a compile-x skyray? I have the power plus model and like it a lot as a little finesse dock skipper. Sensitivity is just OK but I am mostly skipping, waiting and feeling for weight or monitoring my line so it works for me.

I own the whole JDM PU series, 1 difference I see when comparing with US PU series is that JDM ones have removable handle, they normally have that for PU and PG for all models =>7ft. Also the new spinning models are not available for JDM.

$879.99, seems on par (+/- a few bucks) on what i would expect to pay importing a new ulitma from japan (rod+packaging+shipping+insurance+import fees...etc).

Hmm. I just checked and I paid 94,418 yen for my Poison Ultima. That’s $666 at today’s exchange rate, and might even have been a bit cheaper back then. Includes shipping, didn’t have to pay import fees.

There aren’t any on the JDM ones. But these days I’m actually happy to add a Fuji or Daiwa keeper after the fact. More options, easy to personalize.
