Premier 2010 Is it power, finesse, or both?

I bought a Premier 2010 6.4:1 a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to place it on one of my rods for all around use.

Does the reel have the guts for blades and cranks, or is it more of a finesse type reel?

The three rods in my lineup I'm considering are:

TD Zillion 7' M

Kistler Helium LTA 6' 9" MH (2008)

St. Croix LT Teaser 7" M

I'm leaning toward the Kistler.

I would go with the Kistler also. Although the Premier does have the ability (albeit limited) to throw light lures, I would definitely not call it a finesse reel! I think it would be right at home being calles an "all-around" reel.

Agree. It is an exceptional reel for all-around use.

I have Premiers on all my rods from crank bait rods to flipping sticks. They handle anything you use them for.

When I was about to buy my first Premier someone on this board advised me "though the Premier isn't really a finesse reel it has a lot of finesse in it". Truer words could not be spoken. I use mine to throw 1/8 and 1/4 oz panfish jigs with 4 or 6Lb line. It works flawlessly. I love this reel.

Thanks for the replies.

It's going to start the season on the Kistler. It seems like a good match and I'm really looking forward to using it. Sounds like a pretty amazing reel.

I would have to agree that it is an all around type reel because finesse belongs to the Conquest 50/50s, Pixy, Morrun 1500/1600, Cardiff 50DC, and the beast Presso. Even the Core/Aldebaran with Yumeya Spool is not considered Finesse and they can toss light lures better than the Premiere. I am going to get the Conquest 50DC with Carbontex when it comes out to replace the Premiere for good.

It would work well on any of those rods. Like the guys are saying, very versatile reel. I have 4 of them. Some of them are on my lightest sticks, some on my heaviest sticks and some in between. They do it all very well. I'm sure there are better reels for strictly finesse, 1/16oz and under types of things, though. I usually just go to a spinning reel for stuff that small.

It sounds perfect for my needs. I want an "all arounder" for that 6-9 MH Kistler but I didn't want to burn it out, or have weak performance with resistance baits. The other two rods already have reels that match them well.

My first Revo experience wasn't so good. I had dark red one that Cabelas was selling some years back, and that was a tough to get the cast controls set right. Soured me on the line, but it sounds like they got this Premier right. =D>

Yeah, they really knocked one out of the park with this 2010 Premier.

The Premier is absolutely an amazing reel. I have used it for 1/8oz shakey heads to 3/4oz jigs and everything in between. The reel is a real workhorse.
