Chronarch D line capacity

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Chronarch D line capacity

Post by jiggerjake » Sun Mar 20, 2011 3:40 am

I loved my Chronarch B reels and have been thinking of trying the D7's. The only thing thats been holding me back is the smaller line capacity of the D.Anyone using this reel to throw spinnerbaits and traps have any issues with it? I'll be spooling 12-15# co-poly and fluoro. How does it handle these lines?

Thanks, but I was wondering if it was ever a problem when you are throwing larger baits that would take over 1/2 your spool of line off the reel?I can see the thinner dia.braid not being a problem.

Pegasus, what are you throwing with that set-up?

I had over a 100 yards of 12# copoly but I wasn't throwing any big baits at all, 1/2 oz was probably heaviest and getting maybe about 35 yards on the topwater legend tournament rod. I wasn't too impress with the distance I was getting. It wasn't much better than the Curado in respect. So I'm making the switch over to braid. Chasing small mouth and white bass so I need the extra distance and looking to get about 40-45 yards on my casts.

I have no issues with line capacity using the Chronarch D's.

I was using a 7'4" rod (DX744) with 1/2oz football jigs plus trailer & 17lb Trilene 100% fluoro last week. I also have the reels on my Dobyns 764CB RM spooled with 12lb Suffix for cranking.

I have the D7s rigged with 15 abrazx and have no line capacity issues with that pound test. However I probably would not go heavier.
