Morrum 3600 vs 1600 diameter difference.

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Morrum 3600 vs 1600 diameter difference.

Post by dragon1 » Thu Oct 20, 2011 9:35 pm

Does anyone have any experience as to the overall difference in diameter between the Morrum SX/IVCB/Forrell 3600 and 1600?

Is it just a spool difference or is the 1600 physically smaller?

I am looking for a small round Abu to match up to a really great condition classic Abu Morrum 6'8" MHF that I want to get stripped and rebuilt this winter. Hoping this combo will be a great 1/4oz - 3/8oz tube, plastics and finesse jig combo.

I have 1600 ivcb and 1600 forell, my fren has 3601 ivcb and 3601 forell. If you can wait for a week, I will meet up with him to do a comparison.

From what i was told by a friend who has both 1601 & 3601 Morrum, 1600 and 3600 ivcb/forell share exact same sideplates, and 3600 case/cage is 2-3mm wider than the 1600 size, so does the 3600 spool is slightly wider by same width (ignore the depth of spool).

I can confirm in a week's time.

Both same height. the 3600 is wider than the 1600. I find the 1600 easier to palm since the side plate is close to the reel seat. :D
