stradic 1000FL vs pflueger supreme 8225mg

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

stradic 1000FL vs pflueger supreme 8225mg

Post by mark poulson » Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:07 pm

I'm going to buy two spinning reels for my drop shot and split shot needs.
Cabela's has these two reels at great prices.
Anyone here have any opinions of these two reels as to which one is better, or more reliable?

Whoa when did they come out with the stradic FL? I thought they just came out with FJ!

Just kidding, I'm gonna assume you meant FI which is an i and not an L...

It really depends on what you're looking for. I personally would pick the stradic, but that's because I live near brackish water, and don't trust mg reels in it. The pflueger is nice and light, and a really smooth reel. So, if you're going for the lightest, most sensitive set-up for fresh only, the supreme 8225mg is a good choice. If you're going for super smooth, super durable, and salt safe, the Stradic is the better choice.

You're right, it is FI. Operator error.
They both look like great reels.
I have been fish with Quantum 20 size spinning reels for years, but I had to stop using them because casting light stuff messed up my neck. I'm hoping these super light reels will make it easier to use spinning stuff again.

Definitely, the right reel paired with the right rod will make throwing light stuff a lot easier. As I stated before, both reels are great, but if your looking for all around lightweight, the Pflueger is a better choice.
