Daiwa's Most Beautiful Reels, You Decide.

It has been suggested on this site, and I tend to concur, that the Daiwa PT (Procaster Tournament) series of reels are Daiwa's masterpiece. Here's some to look at and you can decide. This series was not only pleasing to look at, but they had the following features: An on-off direct drive switch; Zero-Friction level wind guide (it split to give even more freedom than their "new" T-Wing reels); etc.

The basic reel in the series was the PT10. It was a bronze/gold color.

Then there was the PT33, which was a bright gold color.

Next came the fading red colored PT10X. It had a clear window on the tailplate to show the amount of Magforce and a flipping switch. It deserves two photos. Sorry, but I don't have a box for this one.

Finally, the PT10ZX, with all the features of the above reels, plus a beautiful fading blue color. These last two reels also had a dial to set the line size on the reel.

Enjoy the photos and make up your own mind as to the beauty of the reels.

I won the PT10ZX in a tournament in 1990 but then lost it shortly thereafter. I caught the big bass, 7lber at 7 AM in the morning. I still remember everything about catching the fish and that day. I don't know about beauty, but it's nostalgic for me. Thank you so much for posting the pictures.

Those reels sure bring back memories :D
My favorite is still the 'mini' Daiwa Phantom Magservo GS-5,the original Pixy.

PTA 33 would be my pick. Reminds me of the SM-2A profile (loved that reel-still have a brand new one that's never seen line). =D>

Excellent ROG!

I think for cosmetics, the TD-Z frame is the best to look at, but these certainly have graceful lines. :big grin:

PT10ZX FTW!!!

I love the way it shows off its color in the light. Seeing these reels make me wish Daiwa should bring those back or even re-vamp them.

Those are some of the ugliest reels I've ever seen. And while I'm burning bridges the TD-Ito looks like a mardi gras float. Just saying...

Great post. And I agree with the comment about the TDZ frame.

The Steez and the Z are good looking reels imo.

These look terrible. I think the zillion frame is terrible. The Pixy is alright...I dont own any Daiwas though.

The Daiwa Pluton is a sexy reel, weighs a ton though.

x2 I don't own any Daiwa either.....
