Your Next Reel Purchase?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Another Lew's the Team Gold 7.1gear ratio to go with my proven Original Team w/6.4 gear ratio, two great reals and less than $350 in the pair, best buy on the planet!

I had a fuego lined up but couldnt pull the trigger with priarie. I am still not sure if i can swap the gears out for a lower gear ratio like a 5.1:1 but after looking around I may get a BB-1 in five series for no other reason except I want to give Lew's a try with the crush 3000 crankbait.

Broke my "no new reels this year" promise the other day, but I wanted some (relatively speaking) low-cost speed for a modest but effective 6'-7" Falcon "Weightless Worm Rod" that fishes my river-shoreline smallies so nicely. I picked up a 7:1 Lew's Tourney Pro for the Cara WWR and it should be a good match. Throw that Superfluke up tight to shore, twitch, sink, twitch, sink burn it back for the next nook or cranny as your drifting on by. Same rod and basic retrieve pattern for poppers and walkers. The Lew's TP will work out well. (had one before, just not the 7:1)

I also said I was done but my hobbies just always win out over my ability to keep, promises with myself. I am picking up a Daiwa steez 100ha that was super tuned by e_bassfisher. The gears were replaced with gears from a TDZ 103P making it a 5.0:1 gear ratio. It also has ABEC 9 bearing and carbon fiber drag upgrade. It's brand new and and will be my go to cranking reel. This is it I hope. I may have to jump on a BNIB JDM Daiwa PX68R pixy 2009 model. I would have to return a Shimano Tranx hg to pull this one off though. But it's such a killer reel. I probably won't be able to use it either as its kind of rare. I'm no collector but it will be tough using it provided I pull the trigger.

My next reel when available will be a Daiwa Aegis 1003 to satisfy my ultralight aspirations to be paired with a majorcraft volkey ul 6'3" 2piece spin rod that is on the way.

So far this year I've picked up a JDM Cardiff Ci4 2000SS, Calcutta D, Pluton, JDM 2012 Luvias, and a Zillion Type R. I'm hoping to finish of the tax return with a TD Ito 103m :) I think I might need professional help lol.
