If you could have only one reel...
Re: If you could have only one reel...
I really think my new calcutta 200d has taken top spot, though I've only had a few casts with it in the backyard.
For spin, my stella 4000sw is hard to surpass

Re: If you could have only one reel...
I really do like the smaller size of the 200, though I still find the 400 very palmable
Re: If you could have only one reel...
Daiwa Z 2020HL/Cumara 711 MHXF (original) and extra RCS 2020/2014 spools with differing mono/copolymer/Fluoro as best suits the situation. I can cast 3/8 (probably 1/4) to 2.5 oz baits backlash free with ease and can handle high resistant baits like single willow 3/4 oz spinnerbaits and DT16 plus enough IPT to work top water or go from reaction to contact on a whim. Functional and versatile for my style of south Florida trophy bassin. Couldn't care less that the reel weights 10 oz because on that rod it just blends in and becomes a non factor. One word - balanced.

That would be sweet but perhaps for now we have the Steez EX.dragon1 wrote:Z 1016 MG.

Totally different beast - designed, engineered and manufactured with different ideals...the actual fishing part aside.GARRIGA wrote:That would be sweet but perhaps for now we have the Steez EX.dragon1 wrote:Z 1016 MG.
Z 1016 MG would be the LP version of a Ryoga 1016, with MG frame and sides (or even just the cranking side being MG)...offer in 5.8:1, 6.4:1 and super speed 7.9:1....
WOW!
Re: If you could have only one reel...
Glx 843 with castaic 200sf. On second thought I have done swimbait,dd22,frogs,flipped,big lipless, big spinnerbaits on my daiwa heartland hl-s ss791xhrb 7'9 extra heavy lure rated 1-8 oz 12-30lb. I think made for backbounceing will throw 1/2 oz just fine.same reel.

Re: If you could have only one reel...
if i had to keep it around $400, it would definitely be a chronarch 200E6 on a cumara 6'8" medium-heavy/fast from their jig & worm lineup...although i like to specialize and have specific setups for every one of my favorite techniques, if i had to, this one combo would suffice for me for everything that i want to do and i would be happy.

Calais 200 on a MB rod(whichever one Bronzefly chose )
I'd really like to see what Cal & Zander's choices would be, as I'm sure everyone else would too.

I agree. That Cumara is a very versatile rod, but I'd keep my Fuego on it21farms wrote:if i had to keep it around $400, it would definitely be a chronarch 200E6 on a cumara 6'8" medium-heavy/fast from their jig & worm lineup...although i like to specialize and have specific setups for every one of my favorite techniques, if i had to, this one combo would suffice for me for everything that i want to do and i would be happy.

wow does time fly, not to mention my thoughts on the original topic.
ive jumped ship not from lews, I would have to go with the Lew's BB-1 or BB-1 pro in the lowest gear ratio, paired with a custom stick maybe 6'9" medium fast with the spiral wrap. possibly a 2-3 guide transition on the wrap.

If we are going mostly stock reels it would be a Zillion Type R for me with a PE long cast spool and put it on a Super Red Demon or a custom K2 or NFC 7' 3' MH-H fast rod.
If Daiwa made a Z1016, sub that in.
