Chronarch CI4+
Re: Chronarch CI4+
CI4+ material = deal breaker for me. I'll stick with my D7's.
Re: Chronarch CI4+
I agree that the older chronarch 100D reels were UNBELIEVABLE. I recently bought a like new one and I can't stop using it. I for sure am going to buy this new reel to test it out. I might switch out the handle though, but I'm definitely digging the knobs.aqua71 wrote:CI4+ material = deal breaker for me. I'll stick with my D7's.

Is that an Xship logo on the side? Do any shimano baitcasters have Xship?
Re: Chronarch CI4+
It is. The new Calcutta does, as do a number of JDM reels.FishyFingers wrote:Is that an Xship logo on the side? Do any shimano baitcasters have Xship?
Re: Chronarch CI4+
My guess is $279.....any other guesses on price point? I will definitely be picking one up. Hoping it has micro gears
Re: Chronarch CI4+
$279 is what I heard a few weeks ago.... But that was just the word on the street. I hope it's not anymore than that thoughpharmboy wrote:My guess is $279.....any other guesses on price point? I will definitely be picking one up. Hoping it has micro gears

You won't buy a reel because it contains a material you have yet to use? LOL okay, you do that.aqua71 wrote:CI4+ material = deal breaker for me. I'll stick with my D7's.
Seriously though, your sentiment is asinine. You are implying shimano stick with an old aluminum bulky design, versus leading the industry with these new reels with lightweight carbon construction? D7 are heavy, but have a smooth retrieve feel. It was a poor man's Calais. Wait for the new Antares/Calais HG if you want a tank for a reel. Enthusiast fisherman care more about fishability & casting performance than retrieve feel.
I cannot wait to buy one of these. I will probably get two or three. Hopefully they make these in a 50 size (*cough* bantam1). I wonder if they are discontinuing the core, as these reels are probably better in every way?

Re: Chronarch CI4+
Honestly I think there shouldn't be aroblem with the CI4 as the frame material.(If I m correct)
Look at the Stradic CI4 which use the material as the frame material and its a great reel. Also the CI4 should help with weight loss so that's another plus in my book. In general I am pumped for this reel!!!

Re: Chronarch CI4+
I don't think the D7 was a poor mans Calais.
The D7 resale value is better than the Calais.
A good reel must cast great and retrieve smooth.
Since the retrieval is 90% of what a reel is doing most the time, it must be smooth in my book.
And to me x-ship doesn't mean much. Some of my JDM reels have it and can't tell much of a difference.
I hope the new Chronarch lives up to its name.
Its looks like a bigger version of a Core 50.

Re: Chronarch CI4+
So after watching the video and comparing pics to the 2013 metanium, to me it looks like they made the fine tuning wheel larger and relocated it on the C14+. What I am unclear on is do you still go in and set brake blocks and then have a fine tuning adjustment or is the new design of the SVS 100% adjustable from the exterior of the reel? Zona implies that all adjustment is done from the outside.
This reel looks really nice!

Re: Chronarch CI4+
Having just picked up the new Antares, I think this reel could be a winner. If it has the micro gearing it will be a big hit. I'm having a hard time seeing how they'll place this cheaper than the Cores though.

Just hope that the overall feel is much better than the one of the CI4+ Stephano.

Re: Chronarch CI4+
To my knowledge that reel has CI4+ side plates only built on the same tooling as the Curado and Chronarch. I could be mistaken, but this is how I understood it.

Re: Chronarch CI4+
For sure you know better than I do but I do see CI4+ body on the Shimano site and that agrees with the idea I had when handling the reel.Bantam1 wrote:To my knowledge that reel has CI4+ side plates only built on the same tooling as the Curado and Chronarch. Re: Chronarch CI4+
Well we are not bringing that model over. This is something completely new and designed from the ground up to use the material.
