Theres nothing to compare its the same reel from the same company.fishingandfords wrote:I curious to compare 1 to my mentaniums
Re: Chronarch CI4+
Possibly but the one difference might be the weights. My Metaniums weigh in at 6oz compared to 6.6oz that's I've been reading. I'm hoping the extra weight is from brass gears but probably not since the JDM Metaniums retail over $100 more than the new Chronarchs.phatbass wrote:Theres nothing to compare its the same reel from the same company.fishingandfords wrote:I curious to compare 1 to my mentaniums
Re: Chronarch CI4+
I know quite a bit of the preliminary weight publications supplied to dealers has been off. Off by up to 5 full ounces on some reels. Not saying it is the case on this reel. But it is a possibility.

I guess Bass Pro couldn't wait any longer...

A little disappointed that it looks so much like the first CI4. Guess I was hoping they'd change it up some since black and red is completely played out. Oh well, still looks good on paper.

The Chronarch looks pretty effin sweet, even though it again has a bunch of freakin red. Was kind of hoping it'd be a 50 profile instead of a 150, but it should still palm nicely and handle light stuff fairly well. Definitely like that it has all S-Arb throughout and a titanium line guide

Looks like the "thunder" has been stolen. The palm plate side looks pretty cool.tywithay wrote:I guess Bass Pro couldn't wait any longer...

Guessing these will 100 (or a bit bigger 150) sized reels (similar in overall size to the Core 100)?
No micro-gearing

Re: Chronarch CI4+
The Shimano specs and the specs worth mention vary a lot.
So here is my list of worth mention specs of the Chronarch:
X-Ship for efficient gear engagement
SVS Braking System with inner and outer pin force adjustments
Rigid, yet lightweight CI frame construction
8 bearing system (7SARB bearings + 1 ARB roller bearing)
The rest is shared by all $99 and above Shimanos.

Re: Chronarch CI4+
Saaaweeeeet!
Re: Chronarch CI4+
hope the specs posted on BPS, especially for the stradic are very close if not the exact specs that shimano puts out.
i only use spinning gear, looking for a new reel and was looking to try a shimano (until this point i have only had daiwa and pflueger) was about to pull the trigger on the current CI4 but saw that there was going to be a new one at icast, and while the ci4+ looks alot like the ci4, i like that. i also like that ci4+ is supposed to be a bit stiffer than the original as well as the reels being a bit lighter. looks like ill be waiting for the new reels to hit shelves and get one then! hopefully they dont make us wait too long (no winter, please!)
a 1000 (maybe a 2500, havent decided, WTB usdm 2000 sized shimanos ) ci4+ on a 692 recon will be a pretty awesome combo!

Re: Chronarch CI4+
Well well, there it is...
I can't imagine BPS was authorized to put those photos out before I cast
The palming side looks cool. Looks like the hatch is recessed, that's good.
Same ol' lime capacity, I'm guessing that's a core 100mg spool? Good (stock) spool.
Still no info on the gears or gear material Or where it's made.
Well...I'm sure a lot of folks will be stoked to get one. Surely it's a nice reel, probably a great caster.
And If it turns out to have brass micro gears- I'm in. But Shimano is good at mentioning brass gears- usually as a 'feature' . But I'm not seeing it in the description. And that definitely would gloss over micro-module gears. Unless these are pre-production specs bps are using? It's possible.
If not- the Exsence DC(jigs), Tatula(frogs), and maybe the Antares 12(small/med swimbaits-with deep spool) have my credit card's attention. Unless Shimano have something else up their sleeve
