That comment about DC's being good choices for the handicapped is right on the money. I have severe back problems that limit my mobility and have tried to buy equipment that works with my limitations. These three are scary long casters but have been fortunate that my Steez 103HA, and Zillion Type R both come very close also.

I have a z2020 with zpi sic bearings running dry. My t3 ballistic with zpi sic bearings also running dry will out distance it every time by about 5 yards. ZPi sic bearings are very quiet even when running them dry.

I might have to try bearing upgrades in my Z2020 and T31016. As it stands now, my Z2020 outcasts everything I have except my Stradic 4000FJ on a 10' Surf rod (not fair because the rods longer by 2.5ft). I have 19lb Defier on my Z and have spooled it a few times with a 1oz sinker practice casting.

Sorry to hear that buddy. I had reconstructive spinal surgery in '09, and I have severe limited mobility as well. I do most of my fishing off of our dock, so distance is what I am looking for most of my casts. The DC has been a revelation.

I am currently saving for a Calais 201DC. I had the Calcutta 201DC on my 1/2oz spinnerbait stick, but it has since moved to a X4 Destruction. I am currently using a Conquest 101 for blades until I can swing the Calais DC.

Scorpion 1001XT for me. I dang near casted off almost all of my line once using a Yo Zuri Rattln' Vibe, DX703C and 30lb Sufix Performance braid. Of course the 10-15MPH wind from my back helped too.

Doesn't surprise me. The HLC spool is designed for baits 1/2 oz. and better. The spool is 30% lighter and designed to go 30% farther. The rod he's using is 7'11". From my experience the longer the rod the longer the cast. Even with an average lubricant in his bearings he's still got the deck stacked in his favor for a much better than average cast.

Just to add that I was using Sunline Shooter Defier 15lb and the crank is EverGreen Whizzer 16.5g.
No wind to help or spoil your cast.

The distance was calculated based on the fact that I had 75 meters of line on the reel plus baking and I was seeing the baking in every cast. So this means that I have around 5 or less meters in the spool and a give 10 meters to compensate for the curved trajectory in the air done by the lure as the effective distance is in straight line.

The reel settings were the following:

Tension knob set to the point where the lure falls slowly and the spool stops when it touches the ground.

Mag Z set between 3.5 or 4.

Curiously, the only fish I caught (5lb) was on a fairly short cast (~25 meter).
