Jdm reels

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Ebay always has them and some online shops carry them once in a while. The cheapest way to get them is from Japan though.

There are a few places but you may need to pre-order the reels when you want to buy them if they're out of stock. You won't get the kind of Demo opportunity that Tackle Warehouse has. Places like Tackle Trap, LastChanceTackle, Lee's Global Tackle, Hi's Tackle Box, Brooklyn Bill's, etc. are good US sources for JDM gear. Remember though that almost all JDM tackle loses it's warranty when it arrives here in the states so if that makes you uncomfortable you might want to stick with the more traditionally available US brands.

What reels in particular are you interested in?

Lots of variables in parts/repair work without an idea on the model reel. For instance, Shimano JDM Scorpion 1000XT is for the most part identical to the USDM Chronarch 50e. Others are unique to Japan but most parts can be purchased from the same (Japan) shops you order the reels from...The parts aren't listed on their websites but if you email them, most will track down the parts for you.

I would try a new mentanium but the parts can be had thru sites like japan tackle if you need something but shimano USA won't service JDM reels but most of the tuners on the board will do it
