What is your favorite Reel/Spool for 5" Senko Fishing?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

What is your favorite Reel/Spool for 5" Senko Fishing?

Post by Nevrsumma » Thu Jan 23, 2014 10:36 am

I am sure this question has been posed many times on these boards, but I would like to get a fresh take on everyone's opinion factoring in all the current reel and spool options available. So....What is your absolute best performing reel/spool configuration for sheer distance when throwing an weightless 5" Senko?

The best I have found so far in my experience is the T3 SV, but in the search for the latest and greatest the tackle monkey is again calling...

I have a tuned fuego with a 100m spool and Upgraded bearings on a dx 703 that can bomb senkos a country mile. Same thing with flukes which is what it is mostly used for.

Chronarch CI4+. Used to be my T3 1016, but the CI4+ can sling 'em like no other.

103 Steez is my favorite. I tend to pitch them to cover more than bombing them though.

I've used a bunch and most are serviceable. I will say that when I got the new Chronarch Ci4, based in where I took it to test it out, a Senko was my main bait...and it threw it phenomenally well.

I have a purple alpha 103 on a nrx 893 and it works great for weightless senko and I also use it for casting skinny dippers.
