Best Cranking Reel?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

My favorite as well, however....

1. They are discountinued and have gotten somewhat pricey on the new/used market, compared to pre-disc. levels.

2. The stock 70mm handle is a joke, in my opinion.

That said, once you get one and have the right handle (85-90mm), they are an incredible cranking reel.

Lew's BB1 or BB1 Pro, I like the 6.4:1 with instant anti reverse, very smooth and with the length of the power handle has the power the 5:1 reels do and keeps the smoothness all Lew's are known for, two years later I love mine.

The original lew's bb1n 4:3 gearing is by far the best cranking reel on the planet.
