First Impressions Curado I 200

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

i have the curado i and its definitely a sweer reel. ive pulled in my personal best. an 8pounder with it. i have a curado 200e5,i may use for deep cranks but the 200i has impressed me so much i may pick up another in the low ratio for that

Just took the 201 out today....great performance.... one thing I did notice is the handle side of the spool creates a gap large enough to allow line to between it and the body.... not sure if this is normal. ..... other than that it is superior to my g or e series

Try putting a shim in the non-handle sideplate and loosening the spool tension a bit. Might fix the issue.

I have mine filled almost to the brim with 10lb suffix elite and have hand nothing like that happen. Are you using really light line?

I purchased several of the new I's when they came out. Added 4 bearings to the handles, they are nice reels but in my opinion i still prefer my e series. I have sold all of my I series. I cant really put my finger on what i didnt care for, they just did not feel as high quality as the e series to me.

I think you're just nostalgic . Lol. I like my E's, but the I in the short term ... Seems to be a worthy competition , and the I is certainly smoother with more precise feeling to me. It's all in what you like I guess.

That doesn't sound right (normal) at all. None of the reels that I have (all right hand) seem to have a bigger than normal (vs other reels and/or brands) gap there. Could you post some pics?

Ill post a picture asap.... im using 40# braid...... when I loosen the spool tension enough to lose the gap the lure goes into free fall.... birdnests on almost every cast that way.... on the opposite side of that.. if the tension is set tight (I always kept it lose on the e7 and g6 and just thumbed it) I can cast into a 15-20 mph wind with 1/4oz dropshot on a stiff spinnerbait rod and the distance is unreal.... I love this curado

On a side note, I was able to throw a Z man micro chatterbait quite easily on the Curado I. Its supposedly 1/8th. This reel continues to surprise me :D

You might want to make a thread about this in the shimano support forum. Maybe its a defective spool?

I'd make sure the hatch is all the way seated and confirm the spool shaft is all the way seated into the drive.

Checked both of those..... from what you can see does this look abnormal?

If I had to guess, I'd say you're missing a shim under the tension knob. It won't hurt performance, but can make things line up out of whack.
