Possible Curado I issue?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

EDIT: Video won't work when embedded for some reason...

Hey the video does not work for me. It says it doesn't exist.

Thanks,
Ryan

Video doesn't exist... Are you insinuating that there are no issues with the new Curado?

Good find this is interesting. However carbon fiber is a pretty strong material and I would think that the key washer would flatten when pressure is out on it. Also it does not look like it has a ton of concave so I dont think a ton of pressure is on the edge of the washer.

Thanks,
Ryan

The key washer does flatten with pressure. It was designed this way. All he did was ruin his key washer and replace our cross carbon washer with something he cut out of a sheet. He also used way too much grease in the bearings which will make the reel very sluggish now.

That's what I was thinking ...

Something tells me he is using the reel in a salt water application and is trying to prolong maintenance intervals as long as possible at the cost of reel performance. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

As soon as he injected his bearings with grease I stopped taking him seriously. I'm guessing his next video will be about how his curado can't cast lol.

I just got mine and it really seems like the best built Curado ever. Thank you Shimano!

We just received these reels here in Africa, including the seemingly hard to find leftie. Bought one straight off, and stripped it down to see the workings, and clean out the grease. The man in the video is either cooked in the head, or has anti Shimano feelings. Way too much grease in those bearings, and does he really believe that any of us could apply enough pressure on the key washer to damage the cross carbon drag washer ](*,)

It is a sweet reel, well made, and superbly smooth and light. Maybe the best reel for the money, you can buy, but I am biased

I also would want to have the same amount of pressure covering the entire drag washer. When will the after-market flat key washers be available?

As bantam said, it does cover the whole drag washer because the key washer flattens under pressure.
