curado 50e vs chronarch 50e
Are these two the same reel in different colors? Would you prefer a scorpion xt over them?

They're all basically the same besides paint, knobs, bearing count, and Ar pawl. Pick your poison.

The xt is smoother and has better spool bearings.

Smaller knobs on the xt as well, and better looking cc.

Straight out of the box the xt will perform better.
A little modification and they will all perform as good.

I would purchase the Scorpion.

Curado can be upgraded to 4 bearing handle.
Re: curado 50e vs chronarch 50e
^Yeah that.
The Chronarch has larger Septon grips on the handle and a carbon fiber drag washer beneath the main gear.
I have no experience with the xt.
I think all the variants are nice reels.

+1. Better bearings (all Shimano ARBs which are great and cast well once flushed) and very smooth. Super versatile - I use mine on everything from large Barramundi to Australian Bass. One of the best reels going for the price.raul wrote:I would purchase the Scorpion.

+2 for ARB's ! In my opionin they feel a "grade" above the standard SS bearings.Strewth wrote:+1. Better bearings (all Shimano ARBs which are great and cast well once flushed) and very smooth.raul wrote:I would purchase the Scorpion.
Go Scorpion ...

The ARB bearings have a surface treatment and are also a slightly different material. I believe this makes them smoother. The lubrication from the factory is also a little lighter in the S-ARB when compared to the SS bearings. Now you clean your bearings and use your own lubricant so this may not apply. I think the surface treatment makes the bearing "slick" compared to SS.
