Daiwa PX Type R

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa PX Type R

Post by tacklejunkie2 » Sat Sep 20, 2014 12:46 pm

Noticed where TW has the Pixy Type R on sale. Lately, it seems that when they do this something is in the works. Has anyone heard any talk/rumors about the possibility of a new Pixy Type R?

The pessimist in me says that the USDM Pixy which is the the PX Type R is done because US anglers don't care for small, light, ultra smooth, filled with power, expensive reels. I hope I'm wrong but I would be shocked to see another finesse baitcast reel by Daiwa released in the US.

That being said the SS SV reels would be sweet to have over here.

Could be going the way of the Z200. Most anglers in the finesse baitcaster market probably know you can get the PX68 for 150 less from Japan.

JDM Pixy has been around awhile and discontinued in mfg for a while....2009

However the USDM PX-R (not same as JDM Pixy) has just entered its 3rd year.

The Newly introduced JDM SS Air at less $ would be a upgrade in my opinion over the USDM PX-R.

http://japaneselure.gostorego.com/reel/ ... -8-1l.html

But does have a limited use of lines due to its finesse spool.

The JDM PX68 is still available on rakuten for $328

That's why you won't see them on american shores. But who cares, you can get them from Japan.
