Daiwa Lexa 100HSL
Was thinking of getting one for Fluking in the salt from the surf. First off,,can this reel throw 3/4oz bucktails a good distance? matched with a good stick, say 8 1/2 ft or so.. and second,,what size handle does this reel come with?

Some Dicks Sporting Goods have them for 42$. At that price its worth a gamble I'd say.

None, I was letting you know that since they are available at such a low price, quit being an indecisive cheap ass and get one and find the answers out for yourself? Oh and the handle is 90mm.Scattergun2570 wrote:And which question did you answer with that response?Bootytrain wrote:Some Dicks Sporting Goods have them for 42$. The Lexa will do what you are wanting it to do. At the price, especially some of the sale prices now on them, they would be hard to beat. I bought a few when they first came out. Pretty good for a sub $100 reel. I would look at a Tatula if you want to spend a little more. They are phenomenal reels. I still have a couple of the Lexas and they are still going strong.

I have a couple of Tats..but I saw that the Lexa has the corrosion resistant bearings. I figured any extra help I can get with corrosion resistance in the salt is a good thing.WCCT wrote:The Lexa will do what you are wanting it to do. For some reason I think only the Lexa 300 actually has the CRBBs. The Tatula Type R does as well if memory serves. The Tatula easily out casts the Lexa as well which seems to be one of your primary concerns. You can get lightly used Tat Type Rs on that auction site under $100.Scattergun2570 wrote:I have a couple of Tats..but I saw that the Lexa has the corrosion resistant bearings. I have a 300 i use in the salt, it's been solid. A 100 may not hold enough line. Consider the 300 size. It casts great.

I have a 300 I'm fond of as well. Will launch a 3/4 oz trap and can bring in a truck tire (sad I know this...).robchik04 wrote:I have a 300 i use in the salt, it's been solid. A 100 may not hold enough line. Consider the 300 size. It casts great.

It holds 140yds of 40lb braid..being I will be fishing Back bays and some surf for Fluke.. I don`t think Ill be casting more than 100ft,,so I don`t think line capacity will be an issue.robchik04 wrote:I have a 300 i use in the salt, it's been solid. A 100 may not hold enough line.
