ICAST-2015

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

thats awesome but it kind of makes the curado redundant? The specs seem identical as well as the color

You'll love the alphas. I have ordered 2 reels from japan lure shop, a scorpion xt and the alphas. The scorp took 4 days to get and the tracking was spot on the whole way. The alphas took 6 days to get and the tracking showed it left japan for the US and then I heard nothing for 5 days of no tracking updates, then on day 6 it popped up saying out for delivery. Either way they were very quick to get the reel to the other side of the world.

The Citica does seem a lot like the Curado, but if the spool is a different (heavier) material and the drag star is plastic, it might account for a price difference of $100 vs. $140? That is, if the Curado stays at that price point. I'd be all for that!

Thats why the Curado is on sale every where, it'll be the J soon.

It was a 1 month only promotion. The Curado I is only a little over a year old and selling like hot cakes. No way its getting replaced already.

I noticed the Citica line guide is not gold like the Curado.

Actually, I'm surprised to see there will be a new Citica. The G had just vanished (without any drop in price) from everywhere and it looked like a fade out to nothing. The Citica was so similar to the Curado, it must have cannibalized a lot of sales from the latter since the E series. Maybe the new Citica took such a long time before coming out to ensure the Curado I was the only Shimano in that price range with the new technology for a whole year?

I wish that the bubba american bass fisherman would realize he doesn't need 120 yards of 12 pound test to catch a little green fish that does not run, so that the manufacturers would stop building the reels that way.

Looks like lower grade bearings and maybe some other less expensive parts that are differentiating the two :-k

Actually the Citica G went on sale for $99 and sold out within a couple of days. I picked one up. Its a sleeper for sure. Its understated but casts like a beast because its got a light spool.
