Daiwa Steez SV

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Can that make such a big difference?
Are you positive the housing is the same size? The old steez had two different size housings.

Just did a few casts myself...Impressed...just as smooth as my 8.1 and 6.3 sv ltd.....may put a dimpled black SV spool on it. as I put one of those on my 103HA (1st gen)...but gonna wait and see if a deep 103 purple steez spool comes out first.

Its the same size frame housing as my 6.3SV and my 8.1SV ltd as well as my Steez EX and my 103HA. I never checked it to my 100SHA.

I'm with you on the knobs. As far as weight goes, I'll take bass gears with the extra weight any day.

-So are you saying that both the SHA(Super High Speed) reels ( the 103SHA and 100SHA) have different size bodies then the 103HA or just the 103 size?

Does not mention in this TT review ? I will be home tomorrow nite and will check as I have a 100SHA .

Yup, the 103HA and 100HA share a frame, and the 103SHA and 100SHA share the other size frame. You can confirm this by looking at the schematics and seeing the different part numbers.

You have to change diameters to get different ratios. Teeth count is a none factor. The ratio would stay the same if the diameter was the same and only the pitch of the teeth would change. The weight difference comes mostly from the main gear being bigger.
Does that mean that there is a lot of empty space in the lower gear ratio reels?

Yes but the difference isn't going to be that much. Remember when the ratio changes both the gears change diameter on a reel. Otherwise the handle would have to move forward or back to accommodate.
