Limited Edition Concepts

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Some neat designs, but I've got to agree, there's not enough there to make me bite.

I am digging what 13 is doing. These reels showcase the possibilities with any of the Concept reels. Now add to it the cost of trickshop parts like the KP spool and the prices are not that out of line. To bad other companies do not offer tuning parts (like deep or shallow spools, aftermarket handles, and knobs) for the USDM while keeping the prices reasonable. I like the fact that one can obtain the "entry" level Concept and turn it into a poor man's KP (working on "murdering out" an A model with KP spool, drag star and CC knob) for my Omen. Look forward to seeing the new tuned spools and other parts (like ceramic bearing).

Seems to be selling alright. Looks like there are just a handful of custom reels left on TW.

Anyone end up getting one? :-k

"These reels are hand-painted and assembled. Some minor cosmetic imperfections may exist."

This is getting ridiculous. I think it's time to get into airbrushing.

WHAT ARE THOSE? :crying:

That's the first thing that comes to mind! How the hell are these selling out? To me they look childish and tacky.

For what they're asking, it seems extremely overpriced.

How so? Reel and trick shop parts are $315.00 plus the cost of a paint job and then on the higher end versions they carry an $80.00 dollar spool plus custom paint and trick shop parts. Looks aside, customizing reels (either for looks or performance) is not cheap. I have the Concept A and outside of the cost of the reel, I will have an extra $230.00 in it with KP trick shop parts.

For a mere $50 more than their base custom price, one can have a Steez SV. I know where I would spend my money.

Ya, these look really tacky. Lol.

I will stick with my shimano/daiwa/megabass lineup.

How much more would a person pay for new spool, handle, CC knob and handle knobs? The cost of the Steez then goes up by $200.00 or more. Customizing a reel (via the factory or aftermarket) is not cheap. After fishing with the Concept, my results mimic TT's review and after all custom parts are in it should loose more weight and cast better (due to ceramic bearing and shallow spool) than the factory. Different strokes for different folks but I am more than happy with my Concept (also fish Steez, Fugeo, Pixy, and Alpha).

It seems like 13 fishing is totally hit and miss, with me they've struck out 3 times in a row, even with a replacement reel they sent me.
I did a write up on these issues user the 13 fishing support part of this forum if yall would care to read about it.
