Stradic FK upgrades *list and sizes

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Stradic FK upgrades *list and sizes

Post by arrowslinger1 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 10:27 pm

Picked up a new FK got the mic out and ordered a few bearings from boca.
Also added a cf drag from smooth drag.

Bearing for under spool : 7x11x3
Worm gear bearing : 3x6x2.5
Handle bearing : (stock shimano) but if you want to order from boca - 4x7x2.5

You will need a small allen wrench to remove the under spool assembly to replace the spool bushing with a bearing. I believe it was a .003 * will have to double check.

The knob on my 3000 had one bearing one bushing (not sure about what other sizes will have)
You will need torx head bits to remove the rear cover to access the worm gear bushing but unlike older stradics that needed shims, this one is a direct swap - they have changed from the thicker bushing to a standard 2.5 thickness.

Dropped it all in and it made for one sweet reel.

I will try to post some pics up later.

Get one of this to get the tiny screw shaft out. Search Amazon. All newer stradics and above use them now. It's MIP .9mm tool. This forum cuts off the picture.

The torx bit to get the worm gear bushing is a t6 but the rest use bigger torx bit.

Thanx bro.

So best bet is either a T8 OR T9 ?
