Daiwa at BPS

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa at BPS

Post by Big-Bass » Sun Jan 03, 2016 11:13 pm

I read on another site that BPS is not going to be carrying Daiwa products in the future and have already cut back online and in stores on the selection carried. Any reason why they would do this? I know they may be buying Cabela's but don't see why they would be cutting back on Daiwa as a brand. I don't even remember if Daiwa is even in the new BPS catalog.

Over the past few years BPS seems to be cutting back on both Shimano and Daiwa and upping their push of the Pure Fishing products as well as their own brand. I was there a couple days ago and the sales guy was pushing the abu's hard trying to steer a customer away from a shimano.

BPS is definitely NOT for tackle nerds like us lol. I know more about all the reels they sell than the sales reps.

This has been discussed in an earlier post, one member mention that Daiwa did not offer incentives as other companies did. Have not brother a reel from BPS ever, so not biggie for me. Shipping at BPS & Cabela's has limited my purchases from both.

Over the years I've been in several Bass Pro Shops stores & quite frankly I've never been impressed. Tackle Warehouse & a few select stores locally are my go to places.

If this post is true that's a really bad strategy by bass pro shops. Eliminating sales from the two best reel companies doesn't seem like good business. I also have never been impressed by BPS. Here in the Pittsburgh area we have 2 Field & Stream stores and a Cabela's that's within an hour, both are a lot nicer than BPS.

But after reading this post I am now tempted to hit up BSP to be entertained by a clueless sales person who's gonna talk me into an Abu over a Shimano. Good luck with that .....

Pure fishing and house brands. Makes me wonder if Johnny Morris has a substantial stake in Pure Fishing. Seems to me that might be a good business decision. That market is huge.

It is confirmed that BPS will not carry Daiwa products in 2016. They made the decision to do so and the best way to get them to carry Daiwa again is to take a minute and email them requesting them to do so or stop in the store and let the fishing manager/fishing department know you would like to see Daiwa back in their stores.

It's about time. Daiwa at BPS is like Gucci at Walmart

Wont be long and BPS will only be carrying their house brand.
