new Tatula CT

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

If I hadn't bought it at TW, I definitely would have bought it at the long beach show. Did you go for the Fred Hall show deal where they throw in the free spool of J-Braid with every new tat purchase? I don't know what you thought, but wasn't too impressed by this year's show... not to many good deals, and so crowded for a Wednesday.

Funny, the only thing I don't like about the cosmetics reel is the fact that they use the color coded trims to indicate
gear ratio (my 8.1:1 has a purple nut plate retainer and magforce dial), while keeping the cast control
knob red. I really cant complain at this price, but the colors do clash a bit. I rather they made all the trimmings
a uniform color, but im sure they have to save on production cost somehow...
Just when I thought I was just going to have to swap a retainer ... ](*,)

I was hoping the dial was a generic black insert like on my Tactical ... Guess that will be for the 5 gear CT.

Think Ill pull the dial out of my 7 gear OG tat and see if they swap out and add a red nut retainer I already have to get a all red 8 gear CT.

My OG tat 7 sits on a all black rod so going to purple on it wont bother me as much as the mix match on the CT.

Could be optical illusion, but it looks like the twing is farther away from the spool?

They're up on Ebay right now, but not for the price I'm gunning for. Just a heads up.

I will try get more pics up later but my initial gut feeling was spot on ... The gear side cover is composite. I'm sure it's to save weight and cost. It's not a deal breaker though for me as it still feels pretty solid. Rotation and clutch engagement feels pretty solid. A lil different sound than OG Tat but I'm sure it's due to composite.

Will try post a lil more info later tonight ... Excuse pics and typing. All done from my phone.

Wonder if the side plates are the DS4 material found on some of their mid to lower lever rotors and is a fiber reinforced plastic.

Goblue posted a pic with a tat type r so here's something a lil different ...

Sorry for cam work all done with a phone and in a hurry. Need to get spooling and packing boat for Toledo Bend tournament Saturday and I have to work tomorrow.

So far in hand it seems like a lot of reel for the money and CT really is compact compared to OG Tat.
The dial I'm sure will come up from some but neither OG or this one bothers me.
