Stella or new vanquish

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

What makes the Stella better? To me it is much more refined and solid feeling, probably the all metal construction. I get the use of the CI4/Zaion rotors these days, but all metal feels better in my hands every time.

Plus it's a STELLA!!!:)

Isn't the new Vanquish marketed as a bottom contact alternative to the Stella? Whereas the Stella is more marketed toward retrieve oriented techniques? I realize they're not exclusive, and I regard the Stella as the best spinning reel on the market, but I think they mentioned something like this in the Japanese 2016 Vanquish promo...

Interesting thought, I would guess the all-metal Stella would be better for bottom contact, but who knows. Bottom line the Stella is almost $200 dollars more for a reason.

I say it is the best on Earth, with only an Opus as a curiousity that I have not beheld to compare.

Great problem to have debating a Vanquish and a Stella:)

I have the 12 vanquish and its been amazing, I would take the stella over it though.

With that said the new vanquish looks pretty damn awesome...

What I like about my 12 is the maintenance port, shimano was dumb getting rid of that feature IMO.

The extra tall spool of the Stella is the main thing for me that I wish more Shimao spinners would employ, but I get that they want the flagship to have a stand alone feature.

I look forward to 2016 Vanquish reviews when they start showing up. If they made the spool like the Stella, it would vault up my list to try again.

I ended up getting the Stella. This size is awesome! It would be great for drop shorting because of its smaller size. I can't wait to test it out hopefully I can try it on small mouth soon or some big Browns!
