2015 Metanium DC or the older Metanium DC7???
2015 Metanium DC or the older Metanium DC7???
I have a chance to purchase one of these reels new in the box, not sure which one to get or which braking system is better. The DC7 is $315, while the 2015 met dc is pushing $400. Any opinions of these two reels would be appreciated! Thanks!

LOL, Guess I'm on the wrong board! But I value everyone's knowledge, especially with the JDM stuff.mrpao wrote:This is TackleTour.

I don't see anywhere the old Metaniums are better than the new ones, DCs included.

Both are more than likely equally great reels. I have a 15MetaniumDC and love it. I had a Metanium MG7, though it wasnt the DC, I sold it because I didnt care for the feel of the reel in hand. Many like the D series in that aspect, but it wasnt for me. Im sure which ever feels better in your hands is gonna be the better pick of the 2.

Thanks for the input, I actually prefer the D series frames as well, so I think I'm going to go that route.LgMouthGambler wrote:Both are more than likely equally great reels. Thanks, I have a brass gear set on the way with carbontex drag washers and bigger shimano knobs. The guy I bought it from has one more brand new in box. I'll send you a pm about it.

I prefer the more agressive look of the new Met but this older one looks clean and should be a good reel too, nice.

The stock drive gear and pinion gear are .3 ounces and the upgraded brass drive gear and pinion gear are .6 ounces. So it adds about .3 ounces to the weight of the reel. The reel is 6.8 ounces, so it would make it about 7.1 ounces.UFpwrLifter wrote:How much weight does this add, if any?chreim20 wrote:fishingandfords wrote:Sick I think I would put brass gears in it
