Megabass orochi xx 79XXH reel pairing

Post by Obz » Tue Aug 23, 2016 4:37 pm

Looking to flip and punch 3/4- 1 1/2 oz weights, probably rock some 50lb braid. I decided on the Aaron Martin's orochi 7'9". Looking for a reel recommendation. I'd like to keep it under $300. Thanks TT.

The SV103XS balances very well on that rod.

Agreed, that would be my #1 choice as well. Incredible reel that feels great on the XX Flipping Special. It's within budget, and you can contact me for Tackle Tour member pricing through The Tackle Trap!

I have that rod and use a Daiwa Tatula Type R 8:1 and it balances perfectly. I use my setup with 20lb floro and 3/4oz-1oz with a beaver generally and it is an amazing setup.

IP79 or IP68. OG Zillion platform with a lightweight 12 gram spool and powerful magnets fitted to the reel for extra control. Used in very good to excellent shape go for around 300. I've got an IP68 on an Orochi X4 seven eleven and it blows my mind every time I pitch with it. The reel can both pitch baits very far and effortlessly as well as send a bait skipping all the way to it's target.

I was fooling around today and slapped my sv 103 on my xx flipper and it balances about 3\4 inch in front of the fore grip. Not to derail the thread but on my xx pp it balances right on the fore grip.

In the end I changed my mind, Go figure. I ended up placing order for a MB Faust f8 from TTT. It was recommended by bronzefly. I have a sv 103 6.3:1 I'm going to slap on it until spring. Then I'll get the 7.9;1. Stocked to see the rod, I really dig the Green and gold wrapping Go Pack Go!! Thanks Gary

How's the SV105 on this rod, if anyone can attest?
