Best Baitcaster under 100$?
Best Baitcaster under 100$?
Wonder what peoples opinion on this are. I have several nice reels i really like, but as i am wanting to put more combos together, and put travel setups in the trunk of my cars, 300$ a reel is not feasible.
I am open to any brand, currently fish shimano, quantum, and 13 fishing. I personally have never used a reel with magnetic brakes, although i am not against them, just no experience. I also tend to throw lighter baits. Probally never go over 1/2 oz, stay at 1/4 oz or slighly less sometimes.
Currently, these are the reels i have been interested in
Abu Revo S - Normally out of the range, but is 103 at cabellas currently
Quantum Accurist
Shimano Caenan or Caius
What other reels should i consider and are any of these good at throwing lighter baits? I would be willing to swap bearing or do a super tune if that helped, as that does not cost alot extra

Check out the Abu Orra SX or if you're willing to go slightly over budget, the Shimano Casitas is solid.

x2 diawa ct , the r has better bearing and lighter spool cast lighter baits better . ALF has new r's 139. on fleabay . Best bang for the buck IMO and I'm a shimano guy at heart curado and up . Diawa's cast control is the shizz .
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
Daiwa Tatula, Shimano Citica 200 and Daiwa Exceler EXE come to mind. Sub $100 reels have been the bread and butter of the Korean OEM stuff so I'd ake a look at a Doyos such as a "Lew's LFS".

American legacy fishing had the tatula ct 8:1.1 on eBay for $79.99 & free shipping. Got mine today & very impressed. Palms just as good as my metaniums & is smooth for its price point. If it was a diff color, I'd really consider putting it on my nrx 894. They can be got for $99.99 all day

Tatula CT $99 or you can pick up a Lew's Tournament MB for $108 on the big auction site.

I know you are looking for new, but you may want to consider used. I have a couple of the older gold colored Carbonlites that are a pleasure to use. I know for a fact they will cast a 3/16 oz. Shad Rap with ease. Cost is a lot less than $100. Dual braking, reasonably light and cast very well. I have a Tournament MB and a Tatula Type R....not in the CT line, though. I have to admit to not having tried them to see how light they would cast. Will have to leave that for others as a person only needs so many reels for the light stuff.
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
I've got to put a little time in with my daiwa ct, STILL very impressed. I'm thinking this is probably the best reel under $200. I've fished with 13 metaniums, mgls & steez sv all year & I think I'm more impressed by this reel. Casting heavier baits, I see no difference compared to those reels I mentioned. I think it palms somewhere between a core 50mg & core 100mg. Can't believe there is not more talk about this reel. Smoothness is on point too. Even if durability ain't the best, you could buy 3 in a year (eBay of course) & still be cheaper than buying one metanium. I was hesitant about the weight, but it is a aluminum reel BUT I swear it palms better than my metaniums. I actually have a 7'3h '15 zbone w/o a reel & I'm about 90 percent sure I'm getting a ct for it, the red accents looks awesome together & balance was good. Don't let the price & weight keep you from buying this reel. I could give you a LONG list of more expensive reels I've owned, that I wasn't as impressed as I am with the tatula ct, & the 8 gear ratio is smokin!
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
In that price range...Daiwa CT. Period. Ebay 99.95 shipped.
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
I concur, Tatula CT. I don't think anybody else's offerings at $100 street price will compare in performance and build.
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
You can find new Lews Tournament MB reels in that range. Great reel in that price market.

Daiwa Tatula CT in my opinion is the most bang for the buck. You can easily find them for $100.00.
Re: Best Baitcaster under 100$?
I don't know about 1/4 lures, but the past few weeks I've been throwing the small whopper plopper on 12lb suffix & it will launch it. The small plopper is 3/8. The tatula ct is probably my favorite topwater reel of all time & the 8.1:1 ratio is perfect. The t wing is just a fun reel & when you got it on topwater duty fishin a fun bait like a whopper plopper, WOW! Caught a 5lber today, cranking him in was pretty smooth with the ct.
