Shimano baitcaster handle

Post by Jmoua86 » Wed Nov 30, 2016 1:07 am

Noob question, I have and old sckool d-series curado 100, was wonder if anyone has exp swapping out handle for core 50mg handle with 4 bearing? Also, if there is another stock shimano handle that works, the original feels a bit short and the knobs are really beat up. Thanks guys

Lots of guys use the handle assembly from a 200e7. Its longer than a core50 handle and has the large septons and takes four bearings.

Are the knobs riveted?

On the 200e7 handle, where does the extra bearing go? In between the brass shim and nut? I just cleaned 8 of those handles and now I'm curious.

No they are not riveted. The thread on the right hand model (200e7) is left handed, so you need to tighten to loosen it, and vice versa.

As far as I know, there is no space to add another bearing to the handle knob. It may be possible by changing the nut like the ones found in a Calais. The Curado nut has a built in bushing, that takes up the space. I have never done it though.

I tried a 13met xg handle on the 100D and it was a not go. Same handle works great on my old Chronarch MG50's. I'd suggest you have someone actually confirm the handle you want to go with fits the 100D. I was shocked when the handle did not fit the 100D. Had something to do with the drag star rubbing.

The Metanium handle is swept, so would be too low on the crank shaft. You would need a straight handle, like the one from the Curado E series.
