Chronarch MGL
Hi al, I contacted Shimano asking if the new Chronarch MGL is salt approved. They told me no and that it has similar spool corrosion problems like the previous ci4 when used in salt. Can anyone confirm this?
Re: Chronarch MGL
Interesting, I can't imagine they are already having issues with a reel that new, I haven't seen the bearings listed as corrosion resistant on any sale sites though come to think of it.
Reading another review off of Google, someone listed the Chronarch MGL as having an aluminum frame while every answer on here says a new composite...

Re: Chronarch MGL
why do you need to second-guess the manufacture ? if they say it's not saltwater approved that means no bueno...

Re: Chronarch MGL
I know it's off topic but I want to know if it has a bushing on the worm hear that can be replaced by a bearing like the met mgl and aldebaran.
Anyone have a pic of the schematic?
Thanks!

Does a bearing help there; I've missed the threads I guess. I have 2 Alde's.

It just offers a smoother support for the worm shaft

Awesome - thanks for the pics
Do you know if it has one bearing per knob or two?
That should be a sweet little reel. I really liked the old ones. Can't wait to get my hands on a couple.

Re: Chronarch MGL
This is a surprise. What components in this reel is not saltwater approved? The spool?

Apperently the spool has the same problem as the ci4 when used in salt. It will start corroding. According to shimano.
