Shimano 2017 Icast rumor mill ...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

This was a Sustain picture from google. There were better ones earlier, seems they have been removed.
That link takes forever.

Searched around and found a few pics of what seems to be yet another parts bin - sigh. Is innovation dead for 2017??
Sorry about that, my computer loaded the site in about 6 seconds. Not sure if that's slow or not. If I find a better one I will post it. Also I still need to figure out how to imbed pictures and post my own too.

By parts bin, you mean it basically shares with the newest Ci4+FB; they just change/upgrade a few areas?

I received the new Bass Times with the Curado ad and it looks like dial is on the top. Also, maybe I am seeing things but it looks like the spool is dark green.
the dial is not on the top.

Hummmm

The new sustain looks a lot like the stradic FK, but black ,it looks like they brought back the titanium lip , and it sports a MGL rotor.

MGL spool trickling over into the spinning market. Interesting...

Am I wrong on the green spool too?

I think it's a big step up in the looks department. That 2 tone of the I series was just hideous to me.

The 70 is barely a year old, why would they update it so soon?

Are the plates that lock the handle nut on Shimano reels plastic? Or are the composite? I think they look sleek, but they plastic nature kinda bothers me. I wonder if they will ever change, I think Daiwa, Lew's, and Abu all use the anodized aluminum lock plate nowadays...
