Shimano 2017 Icast rumor mill ...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

So a Chronarch 200G? Interesting, wonder why they went so big.

Deeper spool for saltwater use.

Not needed anymore with braid. I wade fish in the salt and I have a lot of list of Curado/Chronarch (some JDM), and I find all of my older 100 or 200 haven't been used in a long time. Well the Ch101SF I use from fishing from boats, but not wade fishing.

Looks like a wider aluminum frame like the Curado 200 that has the same spool dimensions. I dont really have use for one of these but Im going to get one anyways

I definitely agree with you on that, I do the same and have no problem with big fish on 50 and 100 size reels. This spool is probably very similar to the Yumeya Metanium deep spool, and I've heard that spool casts really well in the '13 Met. With the new brake system, it should really bomb some 1/2oz baits.

Places like Australia who use these for Barra, Cod etc trolling will appreciate a 200 size reel spool. When you've got 50+ meters out and the line starts burning off the spool its good to have the extra insurance.

I see right where it states "A" side plate material real faint ... MSRP of $179.99

I have a feeling these specs are for the NEW Curado. Which would explain the 200 size designation.

Then where it states Chronarch G ( Salt Water Series ) ... this could be the header for the info that should have followed for its specs.

From the pics I've seen the new Ch. G seems to be closer to a 150 size reel.

Wont be long now and we will soon know " the rest of the story " ! 3 weeks and counting !

Good catch. On Shimano's facebook page someone from Shimano said the Chronarch G is a 150 size reel.

If these are the new Curado specs, it would shock me for it to go up in weight .2 oz and .4 oz over the older 200i. It wouldn't bother me, I like a more sturdy reel, just not a trend many follow to add weight.

I just really hope it has a light spool and aluminum frame, that's all I want, maybe a cool color. If not I'm gonna end up trying an MGL Chronarch for reaction lures, 7.1 gear with micro module should handle mid cranks fine, right?
