Curado 70/71 bearing upgrade?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Curado 70/71 bearing upgrade?

Post by Drundel » Wed Jun 21, 2017 2:04 pm

Has anyone taken apart a Curado 70/71 yet? I have not, but am looking at the schematics today, I wonder if PN BNT5334 can be replaced with a bushing.

Anyone know? Also what about the knobs, do those come off and can they be upgraded?

Thanks

You need a bearing size 4x7x2.5. Same bearing for the worm gear and the knobs. The knobs will remove from the CU70. They only have bushings in the knobs stock x2.

Wow really? That makes it easy to buy, now I just have to buy 15.

Thanks

Sorry for being a little off topic, but does anyone know if the Curado 70 compares to the Chronarch MGL in light lures? And if it cannot, does adding bearings help? I just never hear much of the Curado 70's BFS ability...

BFS?

I'm a salt water guy and I have throw 1/16 jig heads with small soft plastics just fine with my Cu71. Granted I had a slight wind at my back, but it was no problem once I tweaked the brakes.

Sorry, should have said (MLFS) or (LFS)... Just wanted to know if the Chronarch MGL has the same capabilities, because of its lighter spool... 13.6 area for Chronarch versus 15.7 for the Curado 70

Have you had good/decent luck with those cheaper bearings from Aliexpress? I'm ok in gambling on that price for some knob bearings.
