Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Voted for LP but it really depends on what I'm throwing. I use rounds for cranks and larger baits and LP's for everything else.

Just sold my last round level wind reel. I enjoyed fishing it on 9' rods. That said, the low profiles are much easier to deal with when a lazy thumb causes an overrun.

I'll go for round reel vs synchro levelwind...Simply cos in a really hard weather condition it's only the option to continue your fishing day! And DC Calcutta's ,of cource...Oh! it's round too!

If absolute max distance is needed. Then low profile reels really have no place.

I like the lightest weight possible...thus low profile reels.

I like 30-36" ipt generally...so that usually means low pro in fw.

I really like round reels for colorado blade spinnerbaits around heavy cover.

For fw bass max distance....low pro or round...ivcb4 is tough to beat..as it out throws, all the dc's, magforce or shimano centrifugal brakes i've used.

So my Morrum ZX 3600 that I got on sale for $299 that I still have basically NIB (spooled once, used on one short trip, then placed back in the box) will outcast a DC reel? That's awesome to hear!

Although its a personal preference, for me both seem fine. I got Shimano Aldebaran BFS and Calcutta Conquest BFS. Setup both with Tenryu Rayz rod, feeling - both ok.

Well the mgxtreme2 outcasts my calcutta te dc and metanium dc's with the abu's setting at zero or 1.
And it out throws the magforce z sv steez tws......

Not sure about the spools weight being a factor...but when that ivcb4 brake is performing right...it throws with the best of them.

Hell...I was out today fishing a 10$ home depot challenge rod I built using a piece of corner molding and zip ties as guides.
Had no issues throwing 1/8 ounce rapalas to the opposite bank :) using an old mgx. ...LMAO
Too bad i couldn't keep a 21"+ smallmouth pinned after the second jump....
