2016 Daiwa AIRD Red Tune

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

2016 Daiwa AIRD Red Tune

Post by Bass Shores 52 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 3:11 pm

I am looking for a new squarebill cranking reel and ran onto the 2016 Daiwa AIRD Red Tune.

Does anyone have any experience with this reel? It looks like the Alphas platform, but I can't determine where the cast control knob is located.

Spool information?

Magnetic brakes or centrifugal brakes like the PX68 SPR?

I like the long handle (100 mm) and think the accent colors would look nice on the Megabass BJ SFMS that I have coming from the Tackle Trap.

From what I can tell it weighs 145 grams (5.1 oz) is 7.2:1 ratio with 29 ipt, 8 lb drag

Any reviews, experiences, thoughts, or comments are welcome!
