Daiwa Steez 100EX info

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa Steez 100EX info

Post by rockchalk06 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 6:43 am

I just recently purchased a nice Steez 100 EX HS. All blacked out too.

Problem is, I cannot find much info on this reel. TT has the XS review, but doesn't make mention of the HS or H model. Either I'm not searching correctly or there just isn't much info around.

Can someone tell me the year it was introduced? Bearing count? Bearing placement? Gear sets available for it?

Thanks in advance

Bearing count should be the same as the xs model and placement should also be the same. Not sure on year it was released or gear sets. I'd venture to guess you can use the typical Steez gears. So 6:3:1 and 7:1:1 and Ian offers a cranking Steez in a 5:x:1 ratio.

Introduction was in 2012, but I believe it was mainly for the 7.9. I've heard some say that the paint is also more durable.
