I've noticed that too. I think it has a lot to do with a lot of Japanese anglers fishing from the bank and the reels getting put on the ground with little regard for the reels finish. That suits me just fine though, some of my favourite reels are ones that are really rough looking but have been tuned to perform.

Yeah. Picked up my last TD-Z 105H from Japan. The part below the line guide had almost all the finish peeled off. Sent it to Ian before using, He said it was dry inside.
