This poor reel

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

This poor reel

I get stuff gets beat up on the water but how does one let a reel get like this? I'm assuming a guy that sees it as just a tool but still.

He may be able to sell the spool..lol
I am with you man, I dont understand how reels get beat up like this. I know some reels are prone to peeling chipping and stuff like that and those reels i do the best I can to cover after each use. I lay down conbo's rather that throw them down and in the boat I do the best I can't so that they aren't hitting one another and I never put a metal bodied reel next to a mag reel even though they are both covered up.

Man some people just do not treat their equipment like others! Here in the great NW I cringe at every truck I see driving by with rods propped up on the tailgate as they drive by.
Bobber fishing for salmon and steelhead is huge here and takes a long rod but I just cannot bring my self to even let a rod ride outside the vehicle.

One run in a rod locker in some sporty condition clanging against it's neighbor can do some serious damage.
Or just tossed in the bed of a truck and went muddin :)

Had a pair of terez rods in a rocket launcher for a 100 mile ride out, 100 miles of trolling, and 100 mile run back in. Never used the center rigger that run since it was so lumpy. It literally chaffed through the pain and quite a bit of blank material.

I have a spinning reel that looks beat like that. Being a shore angler
And slipping a d falling in the stream and along the banks can
Tear a reel up. I don't think that's the case most times but I have one.

Dang! That is a pretty durable finish on those reels too. Imagine if that owner had something like a TD-Z.

He could have bought it used and didn't care, if it was already in poor condition.

Looks like it may have ended up beneath a lawn mower somehow

Shame

Great reel

Not that I'd take care of a nice reel like this in a way that it would end up in that condition, but I LOVE reels like this! As long as the internals aren't terminal, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. I'm a function over form guy when it comes to the reels I use on a regular basis so a beater that performs really appeals to me. I just don't have the necessary cash flow for the gamble at the moment... They are absolutely beautiful reels and they perform the part.

That is a gamble for sure, internals may be flawless and maintained or never seen a drop of grease or oil.

Good platform for stripping down and having it cerakote'd...

A lot of reels are risky to buy second hand, not like anyone sells with receipts for maintenance throughout its life. Buying 2nd hand alike that reel would definitely put a reel in the higher risk internally but with PayPal thats something you could rely on with the sellers comments of how the reel functions.

I've noticed a lot of reels coming used from Japan look like hammered sh*t.
