New Steez Ergonomics

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

New Steez Ergonomics

Post by smallies » Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:24 pm

I am looking at adding a new Steez to the lineup, specifically the Steez A TW. I have a Steez EX100 that I love, but am slightly hesitant to add the new one due to the ergonomics. How does this reel palm? I have small hands so I am picky about how the reels palm. For example, I like the way my Steez EX100 palms, but the Tatula SV TW and even the Zillion SV TW are slightly large for me. Definitely doable, but noticeably larger than say my EX100SH or a Metanium for that matter. How does the Steez A palm?

I know the Steez SV TW palms fantastic. Better than the originals. The rear near the thumb bar is contoured and slimmer. Best palming reel I own.

I've got a Steez SV TW, Steez 103s, and quite a few TD-Zs. The Steez SV TW disappears in my hands and is on par if not better palmability wise than the TD-Z frame factor. Steez 103 palms fine but the TD-Z and Steez SV TW and much, much more comfortable. It isn't close to the larger tatula/zillion CT SV TWs. It's much smaller.

This X1000. Like a T3 on a diet. Super model version.

It feels smaller than it looks.
I have fairly small hands.....I find it palms much nicer than a metanium.

The thin knobs are nice too

Just grabbed a 16 alde bfs....feels very similar in hand.

I like how the steez palms better than the MGXtreme2

I can say for sure these 2 things:

1. Palms better than the Metanium.
2. My small hand swallow the reel.

I do put my thumb over the frame across the spool area and put my pointer finger across the front of the reel (like a claw grip).

IMO it palms better than my TDZ !! I wear a lg glove and find the reel feels perfect but I have a new left hand for sale just don't like the feel the left handed as I thought I would.

Just to echo the above.. nothing to worry about with ergonomics. It's probably my favorite reel to palm.

Ok, so let's talk about "small hands". I am going through a similar deal where I bought a reel (a Steez LTD 105) only to find that I cannot find a comfortable way to grip it. The Steez SV TW and the Alde15 both get recommended a lot as smaller, great palming reels. But "small hands" is so subjective, it's hard to really tell what people are talking about and I don't think I would be able to handle either reel before buying.

So here we go, here are my tiny hands, please let me know if this is what you guys are thinking when you say "this reel fits my small hands well"

Similar hands and the Steez A is a delight to fish. Palms very well and is a great reel.
