TW has the ss sv on clearance still. 5.3:1 ratio and super light.
Won't 10XD type baits destroy those gears? I assumed a beefier gear set was required. I haven't really found a tank of a reel, with high line capacity, smooth retrieve, and not overly heavy. I'm going to have to use my winch for now. Does the job just not as fun. I was considering using my Met but I think it'll burn out the gears as well. Plus I'd like to get into that 5 speed area.ss30378 wrote:TW has the ss sv on clearance still. 5.3:1 ratio and super light.
I use a Tranx 300 with a power handle for the deep divers.Chicagoed wrote:Won't 10XD type baits destroy those gears? I assumed a beefier gear set was required. There was a Chronarch 201E5, which is a 5.5:1, that works perfectly for deep cranks. I have a pair of these, and a set of the gears in a Citica and they are great cranking reels. The E6 has also worked great for deep cranks when I need a little more speed.SteveSchmelzle wrote:as long as you're not looking or a leftie.
I mean, sure they made an E5 in the 301 size...but in the infinitely more popular 201 size, no E5 to be found (or made).
kinda what I was getting at with my earlier comments.
I second this reel, cant beat it. the 200d series is also a good option if you prefer a bigger size reel.jmd_143 wrote:I have had good success with old Shimano E5 and even the curado I in the 5.5 gear ratio. They can be had for dirt cheap.
If nothing else, the ceramic wormshaft and zirconia pawl will last forever.mark poulson wrote:Check out the Quantum Smoke HD 200 Casting Reels on TW.
