Tatula CT CS Type R

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Tatula CT CS Type R

Post by uljersey » Tue Feb 13, 2018 3:51 pm

Just posting a continuation of this thread - viewtopic.php?f=47&t=75246

I received mine today, which was day 20 from the order/confirmation of shipping date of Jan 24. Aliexpress's shipping time frame was 19 to 39 days, so no problem there. It was packaged well and arrived with no dents, dings or other signs of abuse. Feels fine out of the box, not geary or anything out of order as far as I can tell. I'll likely open it up and clean/lube it to my liking. I may even get it out on the water this weekend if the weather cooperates.

No, it's NOT a clicking cast control knob, just a larger one.

Original box shipped within a larger box with plenty of bubble wrap.

The irony wasn't lost on me

Not sure why, may be the cork handle paddles but it comes in lighter than a USDM Type R by 2/10 of an ounce.

Thing looks outstanding. I have the original type R and it has never let me down.

Tore it down to the frame as they had the level wind greased up - I prefer the dry film of TSI 321 on that. Exactly the same internally as my gaudy red/black Type R Image

Now I'm REALLY gonna be blasphemous and order a set of Reel grips for it ... go ahead and flame me, but I like them and they'll protect the cork. I wonder if they come in cork color ? Image

I dont think the cork is bare, it is coated with clear urethane. No need to protect it.

Gary says no more are available, but back in this post, another member said he ordered from Aliexpress. They still show as in-stock from a couple of the sellers there.

Yeah, but in spite of the urethane, it's gonna get grips anyhow. All of my reels have them, ugly looks aside they do their job very well. Think of them as ugly slipcovers on fine furniture

I knew you could get it in the US. Just wishing it was a staple in the Daiwa's US market.

The reel is actually intended specifically for the Chinese domestic market. But I agree, the reel should be widely available here, even if Daiwa only released it as a special/limited edition. We can only hope....are you listening, Daiwa?
