If it helps any body, just put 155m of 30lb sufix 832 on the new 1520 zillion. 1m of backing on spool.

Put 100m of 50lb powerpro on the other reel.

How do these feel compared to say Shimano Conquest Calcutta?

The Conquest 100 (5.2 ratio) is smoother out of the box no question about that vs a Ryoga 1016-CC (5.4 ratio)
The funny thing is the Ryoga retains it’s smoothness longer.
The Conquest & Bantam PG felt a little geary after couple of trips for me.

I fish all 3 reels with 20lbs braid topped with an FC leader for squarebills, double-bladed spinnerbaits & deep cranks.
The Ryoga 2018 does not disappoint when power is needed to haul baits with plenty of resistance.
I use the Ryoga as my dedicated deep cranking reel now.

OT - The Bantam MGL PG does make it’s case as it palms the best outta the 3 for an entire day of casting.
Something about that MGL spool that makes it such a joy to cast.
The MGL spool is lightning quick on startup compared to the G1 Mag Z and it does outcast the Ryoga easily for 3/8 - 3/4oz lures.
Pretty hard to beat for it’s price and out of the box “stock” performance though.

The Conquest doesn't share the exact micro gears as the Bantam does it? Another interesting question I haven't had answered is whether the Daiwa Hyper Mesh gears are closer to the Tier 1 Shimano Micro (Bantam, Metanium, Chronarch MGL) or closer to the Tier 2 Shimano Micro (Conquest, and I assume Antares)???

I just cannot tell which are the smallest teeth from google images, not that it matters, some claim micro gears in general are a gimmick (I like them though).

There shouldn’t be any difference imo though.
I do have a Metanium MGL with the TT curado drive gear in it and it happens to be the smoothest reel I own.

No difference in quality, just the higher end super expensive reels have EVEN finer teeth.

on my previous post I did mentioned that I only get 80m of 40lb kasking braided line (measured.40mm dia instead of 0.30mm stated in spec) on Ryoga 1520h. Following advise from members in here, I get Daiwa J-braid 40lb, dia 0.23mm (measured at 0.275mm) and get 150m with no backing, now that's look more like it

Tested 2 days for my 2018 Ryoga CC 5.4:1.... (out of the box)

Just sit perfectly on my G Rod International 7'11'....

Managed to nail 14lb Giant Snakehead with ease.

So far so good.

How is everyone's reels been so far?

I'm using a Calcutta Conquest 101 for cranks right now but would love to try another round reel.

Thinking the 1016 5.4

I have an '18 Ryoga 1016H and have thrown a Jackall Kaera with it and last weekend flylined a 5" Senko with it. It handled both perfectly, of course with different rods. I also have a Conquest 200PG and I'd say they're equally good, I'm mostly a Shimano fan for casting reels, but I do have some Steez SVs and others to throw UL baits but I will say I like the Ryoga for a round reel for sure.

My 1016 5.4:1 is just great reel but thinking of changing the line guide to an old silver Ryoga and I just wonder if anyone has swapped to the old line guide .
