Tdz type r td ito j dream

Post by Jrkleba » Sat Oct 20, 2018 5:47 pm

Hey guys I have recently got a mint td ito and am torn do I use it or let it sit on the shelf? I've just got into the daiwa/megabass platform and use a is73 as well as a steez limited but I want something in the 6.1 gear ratio. So I'm thinking of getting a used tdz but is it worth getting any of the others I mentioned over the og? Thanks in advance for the info guys!

That would get shelf queen status for me. Maybe the very occasional foray into the pond or something, but definitely not a daily driver. OG's and their variants are easy to come by and up to the status of work horse.
This is the way.

I would use it, but carefully and judiciously. It is intended to be fished...let it find its purpose in life.

This. Just baby it. I can't handle having a gem like that just sit in front of me.

I would fish it and fish it as much as possible. The only time I wouldn't use it is a situation you know it will get beat around. The point is it looks and works amazingly well so don't let half of what its made for go to waste. You can get a little enjoyment looking at it on a shelf or allot of enjoyment catching big bass on it. Think of it as setting the reel free to do what it was made for!

I have two NIB Ito reels and they have yet to be used. I just can't do it. I have a custom Ito/105 hybrid too but can't even use that one. I have a problem LOL. The reels that I have are very lightly used and babied and many of mine are in just plain new in boxes in a collection that hasn't seen water. I have about one to two dozen in used rotation but all have been treated carefully. Best wishes on the water!

Been selling my "shelfies" and buying reels that I will use and enjoy. It's cool to have them on the shelf, but it's like having a 68 Camaro in the garage, no fun if ya don't drive it.

Fish it! Just don't put in in the boat rod locker with a bunch of other reels

For me I try to find user versions to fish and keep the gems in a case. Its all personal preference though.
I like TD-Z's

Thanks guys? Any difference between all these other versions of the tdz? Other then looks is there a huge difference in components? Could I get a tdz and make it just as good with aftermarket parts or is it worth grabbing one of the tuned models?

It’s a ‘fishing’ reel, so use it for that.

The Ito is slightly lighter in weight and the spool has "Type R" tuning when compared to the standard TD-Z. Super versatile platform and one of the all-time greats...can make them do just about anything you can imagine.
