What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

The new Steez CT looks like a smaller reel and a total redesign to make it more compact rather than just a side plate and spool change. The frame and body lines don't match the current Steez. This reel is a welcome replacement for the Pixy but I wish it didn't have the Steez name. I would have preferred it to be called a Pixy or some imaginative new name. They do have finesse Steez rods so a Steez CT does make sense for their end I guess.

gotta say, daiwa announcements are so more exciting than shimano's

But Steez CT doesn't sound good. I would have called this the Alpha Pixy/

I don't mind Steez CT name, cause I love Steez platform, but 19 Pixy SV TW would have been better.
Here is specifications of that reel:

Notice, that spool is so small that 6,3:1 is quite slow. :D

Hmm. At least 3 new CT reels with a 30 mm spool including a Millionaire CT, which is kinda interesting...

Daiwa spool sizes

I would have preferred a new Steez with a shallow / super shallow 34 mm spool
That is how I felt, maybe a Zillion with a version of the 1012 G1 SV, that maybe isn't quite as light as the Steez SV TW XH spool. I finesse fish 90% of the time so it's all good to me. I just figure this will be a $500 reel and that's a ways from my budget. Either way I will start a big change jar and sell some stuff to probably end up with one somehow. Really hoping the Steez CT will be cheaper price pointed.
It's going to be in the $500 range, it's part of their flagship line of magnesium reels, it isn't going to be a budget reel. The Alphas line is the budget finesse family and I'm willing to bet there will be one from that line in the same vein as the Steez CT. I would imagine it'll be much less expensive, but likely the most expensive in the current Alphas lineup, especially if it's an entirely new reel the way this one looks to be.

There are lots of shallow 34mm spools out there, especially if you're willing to change out the spool bearing on a Ray's spool.

I'm really excited about the smaller frame, I love my Pixy's and with this being a completely new reel, I'm really intrigued to see how the 30mm spool works. I would imagine we'll see a shallow spool for it down the road too.

Adam, is there any benefit from changing the bearing (?). Which bearing do you install?
