2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Mine’s here! With all honesty this is the smoothest most solid Daiwa outta the box I own. I just compared it to my IP79 and a few other Steez reels. I hope I’m not alone here thinking so. I can’t wait to try it. I love the 34mm spool options of the MORETHAN and the bronze gear. I slapped a gold pg in mine. Feels more substantial than my Steez A and slightly smoother than my Steez A or svtw. The only thing that has me worried is my free gift with my reel from jls was a mb 110.  I might be spending a little too much there but gotta thank them they’re my favorite Jdm website.

Nice. All JDM Tackle Heaven sent me was a lucky cat eraser. Naw, even that's actually pretty cool. Departure Outdoors sent me a Laffy Taffy with some line. \:D/

No I know I spent too much, but refuse to do any math. I’d rather just not know.

I'm thinking the same thing. That's gonna be a rare and sought after reel one of these days.

Very nice reel. Congratulations. May I ask which other Daiwa reel that has around the same dimensions of the Morethan? Is it comparable to say a zillion tw or a Steez A?

Same frame as the Steez A.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Are you guys going stock spool on these or using aftermarket? Thinking about getting this reel for a 1/2 Oz bottom contact reel. It sounds like it would fit the PG spool I have for the Steez A.

Running the stock spool and 16# fluro. Works great for me with lures 1/2 - 2oz

That's good to hear. I ordered one from Digitaka. I'm pretty excited to compare it to the Steez A and Steez SV TW.

not that it hasn't been confirmed already by barramaniac, but pics to show the SH has an aluminium gear.

Thinking the pinion is stainless, but didn't bother to check.
Mine came fairly dry out of the box.

Are the spool bearings 3X10X4 like the Steez A and SV TW? I have an extra set of ZPIs.

I believe the Steez A and more than has a 3x10x4 and a 5x11x4 or 1154 in ZPI words. While the steez sv tw are both 3x10x4 if I’m not mistaken.

That’s pretty poor form from Daiwa considering that they have Hyper Digigear printed on the reel.
